Welcome to Jana Parkes' Online Art Gallery
Blessings, and thank you for visiting my online gallery of art!
Painting is what I feel passionate about doing. I also clearly get from Spirit that it is a part of my purpose in life.
With most of the paintings I have descriptions of how I experience them, but each person will have their own experience of them. Also, for a number of the paintings I have blogged the story of their creation.
So, whether you're buying or just viewing, I hope that you enjoy them! I certainly feel blessed by them, both in creating them and while they are here, before they to go to their new home.
I would hope that for the paintings that go to a new home that it would be like the woman on an Antiques Roadshow when she told the host that she'd had the painting that she had with her for 20 years, and that she hadn't "finished looking at it yet".

Artist's Statement
I feel that art feeds and nurtures our souls. To me, these paintings portray and carry living energies from a Universe that is love, light and joy, that which we are a part of, and of which we are made. I feel a deep driving inner desire, and need, to express what is within me, or what I feel wanting to come through me. When I paint, I ask, with an open heart, for the highest good for all.
Most of my paintings are what I call "energy in motion expressions". Expressions of energy - what is there, but not visible to our human eyes.
As the scientists tell us, nothing is really solid, it is all varying vibrations of energy. I really like how Madelaine L'Engle put it in "A Wrinkle in Time" when she said, "What is visible is temporary, what is invisible is eternal." Perhaps that is why they call this the 'temporal world'.
There is a fascinating video of a talk that Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, a neuroanatomist and brain researcher, gave to a TED conference describing how, when she had a stroke, she discovered how the right brain connects with the larger world of energy and oneness, and how the left brain perceives and manages the world of physicality and separation. Click here to see this 18 minute video.
Perhaps a good way to describe the paintings is to share what a friend wrote in an e-mail after the holidays, after she had received the fourth painting that she has bought from me over the years: "Your painting was so enjoyed by many and it has truly been an inspiration for me! I cannot really explain the radiance that comes from it, but I know that you were definitely inspired when creating it. Again, I am so blessed to have one of your special creations here to enjoy. I really cannot say that they are merely paintings hanging on my wall. Each one has a special message for me and it seems that every one brings more depth and unexplained love than the prior one."

So, feel free to peruse the paintings, blogs, etc., and even come back for more. Enjoy, and thanks again for visiting! Blessings!
